Not all truths need sharp edges – some shimmer best in the blur.
In
a time that seems to be becoming increasingly polarized, in which one
is expected to decide within seconds whether to say yes or no, black or
white, 1 or 0, in a social climate in which one is given little time and
space to grasp something in all its complexity, in which one is
expected to define oneself and everything immediately, this exhibition
presents artistic works that deal with ambiguities. Works
that address the inbetween, that which cannot or need not be
immediately defined precisely – that which can simultaneously signify a
multiplicity.
A
quiet elegance resides in that which cannot be precisely stated – a
gentle space where things remain ambiguous, unspoken, yet profoundly
felt – undefined but deeply meaningful.
The world is not just black or white – there are many dazzling nuances in between.
The
exhibition, based on an open call, thus aims to remind us of the beauty
of the subtle and the unclear, of a tolerance for ambiguity and the
complexity of things.
